Mom - I Love You
Mothers and daughters are closest, when daughters become mothers. ~Author Unknown
My Mom
The Good:
- is funny
- quick witted
- compassionate
- knows all my secrets and has hidden all my skeletons. And still likes me regardless of them.
- makes the best roasted chicken in this world.
- can sense something is wrong by the tone of my "hello"
- still buys me clothes at 35 years old because she wants too.
- is an amazing grandmother
The amazing:
- a breast cancer survivor
- open heart surgery survivor
- Has just survived her fifth TIA (transient ischemic attack) AKA as a mini stroke.
My mom was sent home today after suffering from another mini stroke on Thursday. Thankfully the facial paralysis has subsided and she is at home resting. The doctors have yet to come to a conclusion why she continues to have these mini-strokes.
There are small signs from above that things happen for a reason. I was just coming home from the beach on Thursday with my son and nephews. I stopped by my mothers house to pick up some clothes for my nephews because they were going to spend some time at my house. My mom was sleeping when I got there which is highly unusually for her because she rarely takes a nap. Just as I was getting into my truck she came up to the door and I could see that half her face was paralyzed again.
My aunt and I called the ambulance and within minutes (not even kidding it took about three minutes for the ambulance to show up). They took my mom straight to the hospital to be cared for and evaluated.
I can't tell you how hard it was to explain to my three year old why grandma was in the ambulance. He must have asked me a million times if Grandma was coming home and why did the people (paramedic) have to take her. I did my best to explain that Grandma was not feeling good and that the doctors would take really good care of her.
My nephews, were just as equally shaken up but held it together for my little guy.
It is amazing how the older I get the more I value the friendship I have in my mom. Even though we butt heads, never see eye to eye, I know I would be lost without her in my life. She is a fighter. A survivor. She does not even realize how strong she really is..
I just wanted to say that I love you ma.
You can't leave me.
I need you.
