June 1, 2008 I am not a pink kinda girl. I have never been a pink kinda girl. Well except for when I was like ten. When I created my blog way back in November I had no idea what kind of template to chose, what a widget was or how to create a header.
Many of my friends know I am not a pink girl, so much so that we have joked about my blog being "in your face pink". Truth be told I was too lazy to sit and create a new template. I had other blogs to read, photos to take, who had time to revamp the blog? Not me that was for sure.
And then it happened. BAM. Joeprah outed me.
And I quote directly: "Now, notice her pink background and the cutesy appeal of her blog--yep, she's a mom blogger, and guess what, she still likes me. Weird, right? I don't think so. So what, she has a pink blog--big deal."
I knew I had to take action and do something about it, because regardless that I am indeed a mom blogger; standing at 5'11" there is no such thing as cute. PS. Joeprah, your awesome and still rock! Thanks for motivating me to get off my lard filled ass to do something about the pink.
If I was going to spend time redoing the blog, I wanted to do it right. I needed a tagline. Why? Because when I thought up my blog name I never imagined how many people would ask me "why did you name it Jogging In Circles?" For anyone that knew me in real life understood that I am in continuous motion. I rarely get a chance to sit, stand, or heel. So when thinking of a name for the blog, Jogging In Circles seemed fitting because I am always running, but going nowhere. I even recruited a very good friend of mine to help create the tagline; Does parenting count as cardio?
Along with my new home, I am also peeling a layer back on what I post about. Up to this point I have kept it pretty middle of the road. I am not always in a good mood, working fulltime depresses me even though I love what I do, my kids drive me crazy some days, and it is rare that I make an effort to look like a girl. (I spend my days in a ponytail and no makeup) I normally just don't post about those days. And while my intentions of peeling a layer back to share more of me, I will continue to not post about my marriage, my husband, pictures of him and pictures/stories of my friends (unless my friends give me permission).
Why? Because marriage is hard work. If I posted every time we had a fight, or when I am disappointed by him it will paint a certain picture. Sometimes he is an ass, sometimes I am an ass but posting about our stupid ass behavior because it will make me feel better for all of two seconds will only take away from what we really have together. Which is happiness 95% of the time. But we all know that the 5% of the bad times cancels out the good when your pissed off at one another. So by choosing not to share that 5% is a conscious decision because deep down I know the second I hit post I would regret it.
I won't post about my friends because that is their life, if they want to post about it let them create their own blog. Occasionally though, there are times that I will post about my friends, but only after I ask for their permission. :)
You will also rarely see me talk about religion or politics. It is too controversial and I did not create this blog to have haters stalking me because I don't believe what they believe. Having said that, if we were one on one with each other you would see that I am very opinionated. I believe what I believe, I just don't stuff it down your face here.
What I will stuff down your face here are photos. And 98% of the time they will be of my children. I adore my kids and I happen to think they are adorable so I am constantly taking picture of them. I just finished re-writing my photography page on the blog in case your interested in what camera I use.
So here is my new home, for now. Pull up and have a drink, stay over if you like, you're always welcome here!

I think it's purty!
I LOVE IT Kim!!! I think its about time I get off my fat pregnant ass and do something about my lame old blog that I haven't updated in 2 months!
Hope you're having a great weekend!
I KNEW you weren't a pink girl! I KNEW IT! (Whew, Kim is more like me that I thought. *sigh of relief*)
Love it <<<<this>>>>> much!
Love the new look! And you're right, your kids ARE adorable!
Love the new look! And you're right, your kids ARE adorable!
The new decor looks great. You did a wonderful job. Looking forward to seeing what your revision inspires, too.
Oooh I love this new template and the header i gorgeous! The pink wasn't that bad! I totally agree on your stand about the marriage/husband thing...I don't like to write about it too
SOOOOOOO nice!!!! I LUUUURVE it!
I'm sure you made it blue b/c it's MY favorite color.
All for me and about me. That's the good stuff.
It looks awesome! But seriously, what is up with everyone bashing pink?
My page is pink. Do I suck that bad? Jeez ;-))
Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve my tall darlin' friend.
The page looks fabulous and I adore the header. XOXO
NICE. mellow. not pink. loverly.
it's one of the reasons I dig your blog: even though you're not a controversial poster and I don't know the dirty stuff about your marriage, I'm still entertained. EVERY SINGLE POST.
cheers. (ps. I'm not a pink girl, either, but hot pink? I just think that's sassy!)
I love your tag line.... very nice. Great job... it looks so new and refreshing.
Now, I want a change! ;)
So of course it is FABULOUS!! I love it!!
I think you did an amazing job, take phenomenal pictures, and I love your stories. Seriously, I also love the fact that you don't rag on the hubby. We all married men, which sometimes makes them an A**. But, we don't need to spend time focusing on it.
So kudos to you on the classy redo, and the continuation of class which is Jogging in Circles!
Your one of my favorite reads Kim! :)
It is gorgeous over here! I have a love/hate relationship with pink - so I totally understand!
Kim it was so nice to meet you today at the HP Kung Fu Party. Your family is beautiful and I love your blog. maria
I also liked the pink, and had no idea it shouted "mom blog!", but this new look is very cool!
I agree with you about writing about husband, friends, politics and religion. I do talk about my husband, but only in a funny sort of way. And I never talk about religion or politics. I have strong views on these subjects, but I didn't create my blog to be a bed of controversy complete with people who start to hate me. I just wanted it to be light and fun.
Have a great week!
The new look is very nice Kim. Good job!The page did load a bit slow for me. It was either the flickr badge or the Twitter code. Not terribly slow mind you, but I'd want someone to tell me if it was my site. Have a good week!
Love the new look. And the b&w pics. Not a pinky, either!
Fabulous new look! Looking forward to more great posts (and those adorable pics of your boys!).
You look FABULOUS! Seriously. I'm cool with pink, but now I'm thinking this is more you.
We, by the way, have very similar blogging philosophies. I dig that . . .
Definitely love the look...the other was was cute but this is my favorite!
~K
LOVE the new look, and I totally get your blogging philosophy. I've wavered occasionally and lived to regret it.
Ohhhhh, purdy blog! I'm in the midst of a change also. The same ol' template does get boring after awhile, eh?
Where the fudge am I? This feels different, not as offensive to my manliness. I am liking it!! LOL
Oh, the new look is lovely!
Very nice! I like it a lot.
I like the new look, never knew you weren't a pink kinda gal LOL.
I love the new look! I wish I had the time... or, strike that, I wish I KNEW HOW to make mine look so fancy! (heh) I'm not really a pink kinda gal either.
The boys are SO adorable. Hope you had a great weekend!
Diggin the new look! And that tagline. Pure genius I tell ya! ;) But pink or no pink, this here blog would rock just as much.
Really loving the lay-out :)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new look. I am a bit of a pink girl but I need to tone mine down a bit - it's starting to scare me...
