Pity Party is Over - Super Hero Saved the Day

I have been in a funk.  Watching my mom struggle again with her health quickly reminds me how life is short and how quickly you become consumed with stress and negativity.  The passed couple of days I have been a bitch.  Yep I have.  I get really cranky that my mothers doctor's are educated quessers sometimes.. I am pissed off beyond belief at my middle sister.  I hate that we are in a war.  I get freaked out by the craziness of the world.  I could go on and on.

But tonight after reading some books to my three year old Donnie, we had one of the sweetest conversation about getting married.

"Mommy, I missed you today at school"

"I missed you too peanut"

"Mommy your the boss, you have the piggy pops, the belly, the stinky hiney" (my husband and I have little bidding wars all the time on who gets the toes to kiss, the belly to zerbert and the hiney to squeeze)

"Awh thanks handsome"

"Mommy your so sweet, will you marry me?"

"Honey, Mommy can't marry you because your my little boy"

"But I will grow up to be big and strong like daddy and go poo poo on the potty like daddy, maybe when I get older?"

"No peanut, you can't marry mommy, but mommy loves you"

"I love you too mommy, your the best mommy in the world"

Yeah, so my self pity party is over.  He was my restart button to reboot.  He really is a superhero.

Awww... you're reminding me why I love having a son (as if I needed much reminding).

Aww, so sweet! It's amazing how our kids "know" when we need them the most!

Kids have a way of making you realize how precious AND fragile AND short this life is.

My guys used to want to marry me. That changed when they were 5. Now they understand I am already married and they are going to marry their little girlfriends from school and OH BY THE WAY, they FLIRT!!! They are 5 and 6!!! ggrrrrr.

KEEP BELIEVING

That's just the best. I remember when Trist was a little guy and said that to me. As a single mom, I thought it was about the sweetest thing ever. Yeah, that'll help anyone out of a funk.

Big Hugs!

oh how cute! What a perfect way to recharge!

Just think of how much you love your mom, and then realize that Donnie loves you just as much too!

Precious!

And what a great pic of the two of you at the beach! :)

Just when you needed it.... your superhero saved the day. He is adorable. Hope all is well with your mommy. :) Thinking of you.

that is so sweet. i cannot wait to hear 'i love you' - i'm putting more hope into those three words than college, at this point. I'm glad he knew just the right thing to reset your buttons. it's amazing how the youngest ones can be the best doctors, isn't it?

Can I marry you? Oh, damn. I'm already married.

That's sweet. Of course, often boys go on to marry women that remind them of their mothers.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom--I've been MIA because of school, but I will be back in the next two weeks. I loved this post; You are blessed.

I LOVE that his idea of the deal-breaker for being old enough to get married is going poopoo on the toilet!

And I'm glad you have little ones to give you hugs and help take the sting out of the harder aspects of life.

Toddlers and young kids are so sweet and innocent and full of love - they always have a way of simplifying life and making you feel special. Sounds like you've got a great little man there Kim!

Smart boy! He gets it. My wife refused to marry me until I learned to poo poo in the potty. (Donnie is such a cute and funny kid).

Reboot. Perfect way to express it. Isn't it funny how all it takes is a few sweet words from your little one to snap you back in place??

I love that stage when they want to marry you. It's so sweet. Lately, Bug has been bringing me flowers from the tree outside. He calls it the Momma Tee. I swear he makes me day, every day.
