The Family That Swears Together

This is a conversation my three year old had with my Mother-in-Law the other night after dinner:

"What the heck, I can't find Leo.   Nana is what the heck a bad word?"

My MIL answers "No Donnie, what the heck is not a bad word".

Donnie replies, "So I can say what the heck and not get in trouble by mommy?"  ***Note: Mommy has been VERY good about NOT swearing in front of the little ones.

"Yep, that's right you won't get in trouble" my MIL answered back.

Not missing a beat my son comes back with:

"Well what about Son of a Bitch, will I get in trouble if I say Son of a Bitch?"

I girl scout swear that I can't be blamed for this one.  I have no idea where he picked up son of a bitch.

Another quick funny, well to me funny, my grandmother who is 88 also swears.  (hey a family that swears together stays together ey?) It makes me laugh because my grandmother watches Catholic Mass all day long.  So when she comes out with some of her one liners it doubles me over.

So my grandmother calls my cousin on the phone to ask her when she was coming over to go to the pharmacy to get her pills . Except my grandmother does not know she dialed the wrong number. Here is the conversation:

"Stef, when are you coming, I am waiting"
Um, there is no Stef here I think you have the wrong number.
"Stop Fucking with me Stefanie, I am in no mood, just come get me"
The person hangs up.

My grandmother did  not know she cursed someone out until an hour later when my cousin came to pick her up and she asked "Why were you playing games with me you know I am too old for that shit".

HA!

I love my family!

This really made me laugh. My MIL is quite religous and english is not her first language. She doesn't seem to realize shit is a swear word and uses it constantly - it cracks me up!

lololol!!

My family doesn't curse. Well, my mom does, but my grandparents don't. So I'm always uber-emabrrassed when I slip in front of them. :)

Hahahaha! I love your grandmother, Kim! I want to meet her & we can all hang out! (Oh, Donnie, too, now that he's a little sailor in the making! lol)

girl scout swear. You are too funny. You would LOVE my family. You read about my Aunt Deb already. She is just one of MANY. My Grant asked me today what the hell I was putting on my hair. (mousse, I usually use gel)

I was still cracking up at 'it's fucking freezing outside.' the other day.

KEEP BELIEVING

I love your grandma!!! What a great story!
I am also guilty of the occasional potty mouth. Especially when driving.

My granny should kick it with your granny. My 86 year old nana sneaks drinks in snapple bottles into her senior center, so her and her friends can booze it up. She tells the dirtiest jokes, and swears like a trucker. Love it!

By far, coolest grandmother on the planet. You're so lucky.

haha! That's exactly what my grandmother was like. Someone would get a new haircut, and she'd be like, "why in the hell did you do that? It looks like you took a goddamn chainsaw to your head."

Awesome Gramma. My Gramma didn't swear; as a matter of fact, there's a famous story in my family about when she got mad at my grampa and wanted to think of some horrible name to call him... she blurt out, "You, you, puppy! This was all she could come up with. Mom's not a swearer either. I guess my generation will have to pick up the slack!

My whole family is a bunch of cursers, both under our breath and out loud. I'd fit right in w/ your family!

Hilarious! At least she is a fun grandma right?!

That is so funny!! I could not stop laughing. Definitely sounds like something my youngest would say.(when she is not calling people the "b" word!! she actually says "the b word" not the actual word). You made my day

hi there. i just found you from Sandy's blog at Momisodes. I skimmed through your blog, LOVE your pictures and found this post!! I love it!! I have to add you to my blog roll!! is that okay with you. we have conversations much like this one... my son said to my daughter once, "Lauren, did you shit your pants?" and I said... "Trevor!" as in we don't say shit... and he said "well I'm sorry to blame her, but I smell shit and I think it is Lauren!" He is four and she is 2. sort of funny. but not really...I guess.
Anyway... just drop me a comment if you don't mind me adding you to my blogroll. I look forward to reading more of your blog, but I'm limited on time, since I'm trying to be a better SAHM and only having computer time during nap time... so I gotta run.
Have a great day!
Hugs, Jenn
