Another Babble Babble Post
March 6, 2008 Okay, so this post is about nothing.. So if you want to be bored read on... You still here?? Good.. I am glad you stayed I have no one else to complain to because it is late at night and I am typing in between commercials while watching Lipstick Jungle. (Kirby is just so flipping yummy).
Today was my first Thursday off. My boss finally agreed to letting me go back to working four days a week. WEEEEE!!! I needed to go back to four days a week because I am burnt out. BURNT THE HELL OUT I TELL YOU. Have I told you I am a single married mother? I am sure I have. I know my husband hears it all the time from me. It sucks on both ends. He works in NYC which means 14 to 15 hour days. Which also means he only gets to spend time with the kids on the weekends. So I am the primary care giver in the house, ie: meals, getting up at night with the kids, bath time..etc.. And I try not to complain because it is not like he enjoys working all those hours. It just does not allow time with the kids which again sucks. But, working full time, leaves very little time to run errands on the weekends and spend quality time with the kids. So I begged my boss to give me Thursday's off so I can run my errands while the kids spend a half a day at daycare. This leaves me with KIM TIME. Oh just the sound of that is heavenly.
I was daydreaming of being off today for almost three weeks. I had the whole day planned out. Except my friend Murphy and his law enjoys messing with me. Sadly enough my oldest Donnie had to go to the doctors yesterday because of a 102 fever and complaining of a sore throat. Turns out he has a double ear infection. His pediatrician actually LAUGHED when he walked in the room. YEP.. laughed because I was in the same room on Monday with Aaron for his nine month check up and he said to me I hope I don't have to see you until Aaron's one year old appointment. I waited two whole days to show back up. He should get a restraining order from me.. or my kids.
Needless to say my day of Kim was turned into the day of Donnie. Which is perfectly fine, I did get to accomplish two of my to do's today. I dropped Donnie off at my mother's for three hours and went and joined a GYM!! Yippeee.. My plan "BANISH THE JELLY" is in full effect folks. I cannot wait to start Spinning again. Spinning is my drug of choice. I love Spin classes. Spinning makes me happy!! A happy Mommy keeps the Mommy Monster away.
I also, got the truck washed. She is almost two weeks old and never had a bath. So I treated her to a car wash. It is still WAY to chilly on Long Island to wash the truck by myself. It was no less than ten minutes after I get the truck washed that I heard the weather report. Guess what? Rain for the next three days. I love when I do that. I love throwing away $19. BUT, she does look great, at least it was shiny and clean for 15 hours or so.
And lastly I started my Photoshop course tonight. It was being offered at our local library so I signed up. It is only for two hours, for six weeks, once a week. We got through the basics tonight. I did not even open a picture to edit, I just got familiar with the tools. I can't wait until I have mad Photoshoping skillz!!

I am now off to finish the last twenty minutes of Lipstick Jungle. Yummy Kirby.

Congrats for you on fighting for *your* day. Even if it didn't work out perfectly today, surely it will soon.

Oh I'm sure that 1 extra day off will make a world of difference. I can relate to being a single married mother. Hubby here works the same hours, and lately 7 days a week :(

That is killer! Too bad we couldn't synch my work-at-home-Wednesdays with your me-no-work-Thursdays. Poor Donnie! Hope he feels better real soon. Did he say something cute today like "mom this fucking sucks"?

We cannot seem to get rid of the sickness around here. Yesterday my daughter was home with the flu and I'm sure in a few hours the big baby hubby will be at home as well. He's worse then the daughter. I'm going to fill him full of nyquil so he sleeps instead of crying all day!!!

Sorry to hear about your son, but at least he is taken care of now.
I too visit my children's doctor too much. Mainly in the winter and it seems to come in waves. I have gone almost a whole year, then all of sudden, end up at the doctors office every week for several months...go figure.
We are in so tight with our daughter's orthopedist that when I call they know me and say, 'oh, you again'. What time do you want to come in? LOL
My first time here and I already love it! Oh and Lipstick Jungle is the BOMB (am I allowed to say that anymore..not according to my teenagers?..haha). Kirby is delicious isn't he?
Hope Donnie is starting to feel better and that next Thursday leaves more Kim Time!
My poor little boyfriend is sick again. You deserve more than just a day off. You need a vacation! A kidless, husbandless, pool boy in tow, vacation!
Can totally relate to the single married mom. Chuck works the vampire shift at the casino, 2 AM - 10 AM, which means when most mortals are up and functioning, he's out cold. So not only do I have kid duty, I also have keep the house quiet while Daddy sleeps duty.
Poor little man! Hope he feels better stat. And oh yeah about that yummy Kirby boy.
'Single, married mother..." I like that. My hubs has similar hours to yours. I now have a new title, love that. A day off, even a few hours to my self, sounds heavenly! Hope all are feeling better and on the mend soon. Have a great weekend!
My friend has horrible thigh bruises from spinning! I wanna try it.

I stay at home and haven't felt like I have had a me day in forever with sick kids, etc. I can relate. Seems like every week that I plan the day to shop for a pair of (short) jeans or run errands, someone ends up with a fever. Never fails.
I have always felt sincere empathy for those that commute to the BIG cities for work leaving them with ridiculously long days. You confirm that for me.
Hang in there. Winter will soon pass, at least.

Oh glad to hear that you are getting a day off! Just thinking about yours and your husbands day make me tired. Hope you can get a little TLC on that day!

I refer to myself as a married single mother in public, and people look at me like I am nuts. I never knew anyone else used that phrase. I thought I had made it up. What a relief! SOMEONE gets it!
