Laughs, Spirits & Friends

cross.jpgYesterday afternoon good friends of ours got married.  It was the cure this tired, bitchy mommy monster needed. The day, though cold, was beautiful.  The ceremony was perfect.  My friend Jess was beautiful, stunning actually. She cried the whole way down the aisle, just like I did.  She stumbled her vows, just like I did.  It was a beautiful, touching ceremony.  It was the food my soul needed.

Now fast forward to the reception and add some good food, lots of spirits, mix with great friends and VOILA!! You have one HUGE hangover.  My hangover could be worse.  It is really not that bad considering we all acted like we were back in college.  Drinking eight hours straight.  EIGHT!  Yikes.  Yes, most wedding receptions are only five hours but we all had to go to the after party.  Who's idea was it do do shots?

There was a casualty of the day.  My husband and I were both pretty tanked up last night.  I don't believe we have laughed that much in years.  After making complete fools of ourselves in front of his mom who was watching the kids he decided he wanted an egg wrap.  Be being a dutiful wife (and knowing it will prevent sickness) I start cooking.  But hubby wants onions, I veto the onions because onions give him heartburn.  Heartburn + drinking = a mess I don't need in the morning!  He is demanding the onions to the point that we are crying with laughter because I am trying to be all bad ass telling him no.  SOMEHOW, he went to put his hand down on the counter and his hand missed the counter which caused him to fall forward and crack his nose.  We both thought it was broke last night.  There was blood, swelling and lots of cursing.  What does this dutiful wife start doing?  LAUGHING.  I was out of control.  He was getting cranky, but I could not stop laughing.  Folks, it was FUNNY. He is okay, just lots of swelling today.

All day today I have been thinking back to silly parts of the days events.  We were all just so out of control!! My poor pregnant friend had to drive us incoherent asses home.  I can't wait to see her pictures!

If you guys are interested I am putting a link to my Flickr account with the rest of the pictures.

Wedding receptions are fun, hangovers are not. I have made a fool of myself at a few of those in my life, but hey how many opportunities are there for OPEN BAR?

I'm so glad you both had such a good time! It's nice to act like kids again! The pics are great! By the way, I'd have probably laughed at the nose incident too! *grin*

So glad to hear you had such a good time! Isn't it nice to let loose every once in awhile and remember what you were like before you had kids? Not that I would wish for that life back (I love my kids to death), but it's fun to remember your carefree days sometimes.

Hope hubby's nose feels better! (I'd have laughed too!)

We so need those times, even though we feel like hell the next morning! And I totally would have laughed at my hubby too!

I must say that I was starting to get really concerned. For several scientific studies have concluded that raucous good times like that generally result in pregnancies; but wacking him in the nose with your frying pan (missed the counter: yeah right) was some really good quick thinking on your part.

Okay, I gotta go login to Flickr & check out those pics! I love to see the evidence of a good, drunken time!

PS- I would have laughed, too. I find people doing stupid things and hurting themselves to be hilarious. My son thinks I'm a mean mommy when I laugh at him!

Sounds like a lot of fun! I once fell down after a few too many in front of our babysitter. As she walked to her car, I was yelling out the front door, "Do NOT tell your Mother I fell!!" Classy.

I'm hysterically laughing just READING about your hubby falling.

Seriously...what IS it about a spouse getting hurt while being drunk that is so friggin' funny???!!!

(Hope he's ok though!)

Glad to hear you two had a great time together...happy hangover!!

Wedding receptions are the best! Something about being dressed up and liquored up at the same time make for one hell of a party!

Hope your husbands nose is alright! :D I can't laugh too hard because it sounds like something I would do. :D

I laugh sometimes when people get hurt too. Is that bad?!! I never know if it's just nervous laughter or what. My hubby gets so mad at me. If someone stubs their toe -- I'm hysterical!
